Pianist Michael Weiss, grand prize winner of the 2000 BMI/Thelonious Monk Institute Composers Competition, has established a formidable reputation working with Johnny Griffin, Art Farmer and Wynton Marsalis. In addition to his demand as a sideman, Weiss’ role as bandleader, recording artist, composer, arranger and educator have earned him accolades from both audiences and critics.

T.S. Monk Sextet
Percussionist T.S. Monk was born into the world of jazz. As the son of Thelonious Monk, his home was the gathering place for musicians such as Art Blakey, John Coltrane, Miles Davis and Max Roach, who gave him his first pair of drumsticks. An accomplished musician, Monk has charted his own course as a composer, arranger and melodic drummer. In 1986, he established the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz. His work with the institute inspired the drummer to return to jazz. He played in Clifford Jordan’s big band and with Walter Davis before putting together his own sextet, which has had stable personnel since the late ’80s. See the T.S. Steve Sandberg Quartet

Three-time Emmy-nominated composer/pianist Steve Sandberg plays original music that masterfully blends classical, world music and jazz with the excitement of virtuosic improvisation. The Steve Sandberg Quartet made its debut in 2016 with a sold-out concert at New York City’s DiMenna Center. The group grew out of Mr. Sandberg’s desire to merge his lifelong study of classical Western music with his passion for jazz, Latin, and world music. The concerts mix performances from the solo piano repertoire (Chopin, Ravel, Bartok, Liszt), with the quartet’s soaring improvisations on originals that are based on these pieces and also draw from Latin, African, Balkan, and East Indian traditions. Attending to their shows has been described as “listening to ‘music from a country I’ve never been to but always wanted to visit.”

Quincy Joes Productions Presents Justin Kauflin Quartet
Justin Kauflin is an award-winning American jazz pianist, composer, producer, educator and Quincy Jones Artist. He performs worldwide, has recorded on 31 albums, composed the film score for critically acclaimed documentary Keep On Keepin On, published 29 original compositions and produced 4 albums as leader. After losing total vision by age 11 and a decade of classical violin and piano, Kauflin switched to jazz piano in high school at the Governor’s School for Performing Arts. He began performing jazz professionally at age 15, most notably with the Jae Sinnett Trio. In 2004, Justin attended William Paterson University in New Jersey where he was taken under the wings of legendary trumpeter, Clark Terry and became a member of the Clark Terry Ensemble. He graduated summa cum laude, moved to NYC, and at age 23 produced, led, composed and performed on his debut CD, Introducing Justin Kauflin.
